Watch the debate Tuesday and evaluate either candidates' performance. Alternately, you could evaluate the debate itself. You'll find many writers doing the same, comparing this cycle's debates to past ones. Come up with your own criteria. Does the moderator matter much? Facial expressions? Success at reaching a particular audience (Biden was aiming to motivate his party's base, it seems, while Ryan hopes to win over some Independents).
Did you watch the first episode of this season's "The Walking Dead"? Well? Did it measure up to all the hype? Why? Why not?
And, Yankees fans, what's up with A-Rod? Is he worth all those millions, really?
It may be easier to evaluate a single event, episode, team, player. But if you do it well you can score as high as someone who evaluates a trend. The thing is to target a very particular type of reader and help them see the topic in a new way by looking at it through the lens of original and interesting criteria.
Websites can be evaluated. Here is a list of 6 criteria one could use. What criteria do you think are important?
