Study the strategy charts on pp 70-75. In your blog/notebook, describe an amazing experience you've had, as Dillard does in "Total Eclipse." Re-read that essay and try some of the moves she makes. Length open. Around 500 should do it.
NOTE: Blog/notebook writing is rough and fast. If something interests you enough to continue it, that's fine but not expected. Some notebook writing will be useful to you in an essay. If you write something you want to share, there will be time in class, and you can post it here (send it me and I'll post if you don't see the 'new post' tab in the upper right).
Next we'll read Powerpoint Does Rocket Science (click the link) and Seeing is Not Believing, at this link and in WN pp 182-191. Chapter 4 covers the first formal essay we'll be writing, if you want to look ahead.
We'll do a related groupwork in class.
